I would drink 5-10 coffees per day. When I tried to quit by going cold turkey, I couldn’t work effectively, my energy levels plummeted. Water didn’t have that high I was conditioned to have to start my day.
I had to come up with a new solution, thus I used an alternative.
Diet Coke. A zero sugar soda. I bought 2,000 cans of Diet Coke.
Everytime I went to get a coffee, I grabbed a Diet Coke instead.
But Diet Coke has caffeine in it?
Yes I know but it has less, this was enough to trick myself into a new habit.
After I conditioned my neural net to go for the soda, I found it easier to switch between Diet Coke to water.
I reset my feedback loop for water. Find an alternative, and then switch gradually.
